How do I split an image for an Instagram carousel?
Upload the image above, choose how many slides you want, then download each slice. What size should Instagram carousel slides be?
1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait ratio, is the tallest shape Instagram shows in feed, so it takes up the most screen on a phone. 1080 × 1080 square is the safer pick when the same slides also need to sit neatly in your profile grid. Both are here, and both export at 1080 pixels wide, which is the width Instagram renders feed images at.

How many slides can an Instagram carousel have?
Up to 10 through Meta's API, which is the limit Meta documents for carousel publishing. That is the range offered here, 2 through 10. In practice a seamless panorama reads best at three to five, because past that each slide holds too little of the picture to make sense on its own while somebody is swiping.
Does the seamless effect survive Instagram's crop?
Yes, because every slide here is cut to one ratio by construction. Instagram displays an entire carousel at the aspect ratio of the first slide, and that is exactly what breaks hand made attempts: one odd-sized image in the set, and everything after it gets cropped to match. Same ratio for all of them, no surprise crop, no drifting seams.
One habit worth keeping: check the preview row before you download. If a face or a word lands on a seam, nudge the crop position or change the slide count. Fixing it here costs a second. Fixing it after posting costs the post.
