A LinkedIn company page cover is 1512 x 256 px, a far longer and shallower band than a personal banner, capped at 3 MB. The other half of the job is the square logo tile that sits on it, recommended at 400 x 400 px as its own file.
Where it shows
- The header of your company page on linkedin.com
- The page header in the LinkedIn mobile app
- The page preview when someone clicks through from an employee profile
- The About tab header of the page
The safe zone
LinkedIn lists 1512 x 256 px as both the minimum and the recommended size, so there is no headroom to crop into and no margin to give away. The square company logo sits over the left of that band with the page name and follower count beside it, and LinkedIn states that the logo is shown against light and dark backgrounds alike. With 256 px of height there is no room for stacked lines, so use the cover as a texture or carry one line of large type placed to the right of the logo.
Quirks worth knowing
- LinkedIn gives 1512 x 256 px as the minimum and the recommendation at once, so an upload below that is refused rather than scaled up to fit.
- That band works out close to 5.9:1, far longer than the 4:1 shape of a personal profile background, so the two files are not interchangeable.
- The company logo is a separate asset, recommended at 400 x 400 px with a 268 x 268 px minimum and a 3 MB cap, and LinkedIn warns it is displayed on both light and dark backgrounds.
- The cover is capped at 3 MB, less than half the allowance on a personal profile background.
- Plenty of size guides still list 1128 x 191 px for this slot, which is the older figure and now sits under LinkedIn's stated minimum.
Common mistakes
- Reusing the 1584 x 396 px personal banner file, which is the wrong proportion and leaves the page cover cropped hard.
- Uploading a logo drawn in one dark color on transparency, which disappears against LinkedIn's dark theme.
- Trying to fit a strapline and a URL into 256 px of height, where nothing below headline size is readable.
- Building the cover at 1128 x 191 px from an old guide and having the upload refused.
What we recommend
- Export the cover at exactly 1512 x 256 px, since that number is the floor as well as the target.
- Design the logo tile at 400 x 400 px on a solid color so it holds up in both LinkedIn themes.
- Put anything readable to the right of where the logo sits, and hold it to a few words.
- Keep both files under 3 MB, a tighter budget than most other LinkedIn assets.
Common questions
What size is a LinkedIn company page banner?
LinkedIn's page image specification gives 1512 x 256 px, and lists that as the minimum and the recommended size at the same time. The file has to be a PNG or JPEG under 3 MB. Older guides quoting 1128 x 191 px are now below the stated floor.
Is the LinkedIn company banner the same as my profile banner?
No, and the difference is large. A personal profile background is 1584 x 396 px at 4:1, while a company page cover is 1512 x 256 px, closer to a 6:1 strip. A file built for one will not sit correctly in the other.
Why does my company logo look wrong on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn states that the page logo is displayed on both light and dark backgrounds. A mark drawn in a single dark color on a transparent background vanishes in dark mode. Give the logo a solid background at 400 x 400 px and it survives both.
Can I put text on a LinkedIn company page cover?
You can, but 256 px of height only supports a single line at headline size. The left of the band is taken by the logo tile and the page name sits alongside it. Place any words to the right of that and keep them short.
