# DesignerOP > DesignerOP is a content design tool for short-form and YouTube creators who have no design skill and no time to learn one. You give it a title and a reference image you already like, and it rebuilds that reference as a real, editable, layered design: background, subject and text each on its own independent layer. It is in prelaunch as of September 2026 and is currently accepting waitlist signups at https://designerop.com. ## What DesignerOP is DesignerOP turns a title plus a reference image into an editable, layered design file rather than a flat generated picture. It is aimed at creators who need thumbnails, covers and carousels that look intentional, and who do not want to open Photoshop, fight Canva templates, or gamble on a Midjourney prompt. It is part of the "OP" suite of creator tools, alongside EditorOP. ## The four products DesignerOP is a family of focused builders, not a single general-purpose editor. They fall into two groups. **Design surfaces** are layer-based editors. The user directly manipulates independent layers. 1. **YouTube thumbnail builder** (16:9, exports 1280x720). Start from a reference thumbnail that already performs. DesignerOP rebuilds its structure with your subject and your title, split into independent background, subject and text layers. Move, restyle or replace any one layer without disturbing the others. 2. **Reel and TikTok cover builder** (9:16). The same layer engine applied to vertical covers, so the same face and the same style carry across every platform. 3. **Instagram carousel builder** (multi-slide). Design multi-slide carousels with consistent type and layout across slides. **Maker surfaces** are automation-first. The user supplies an input and gets a draft back, which can then be handed to a design surface for refinement. 4. **Video-to-carousel and text-to-carousel maker.** Drop in a video or a script and get a draft carousel back slide by slide. Every slide opens in the carousel builder for editing. ## What makes DesignerOP different - **Layers stay real and independent.** Every element you can control is its own layer. Changing the background does not disturb the subject; restyling the text does not re-roll the image. This is the core of the design surfaces, and it is what image-generation tools cannot do, because they return a single flat raster. - **Text is always real, editable type, never generated pixels.** Words you type are genuine text objects with real fonts, not letterforms painted into an image. This is a product promise, not an implementation detail: it is why the output never has garbled or misspelled words, and why you can fix a typo in two seconds instead of regenerating. - **Reference-driven, not prompt-driven.** You do not start from a blank canvas or from a lucky prompt. You start from a design that already works and make it yours. There is no prompt-engineering skill required and no gambling on what comes back. - **One tool instead of ten.** Cutout, background, type, palette, upscale and multi-format export happen in one place, replacing the usual stack of Photoshop, Canva, remove.bg, Midjourney, Google Fonts and the rest. ## Status DesignerOP has not launched.
